Inclement Weather/Natural Disaster/Evacuation Information

It is important to note that we have never left the property due to a natural disaster in the past. However, there is a first time for everything! Cat 4 or 5 hurricanes are our biggest threat in this area.

If we feel that conditions warrant evacuation for the safety of ourselves, our staff or our animals, we will evacuate. We will make every effort to contact you prior to our evacuation via text and phone call. Please understand that we cannot be responsible for evacuating your animals. We encourage all owners to plan ahead and be ready to navigate a situation like this.

Some things for you to consider in the event that we evacuate or a mandatory evacuation is announced for our county:

*Do you have a truck and trailer ready to take your horse with you in an evacuation?
*Do you have a copy of your coggins and shot records (receipt from vet) ready to present to a shelter stables?
*Do you have similar records and crates ready for your dogs or cats?
*If you do not have a truck and trailer, do you have plan in place with someone who does so that you are sure you have a spot on their trailer?
*Is your truck serviced? Your trailer?
*Do you have the basic items you would need for your horse at a sheltering facility? Water and foot buckets, shavings for a stall, stall rake, muck bucket, sturdy halter and lead and a spare halter and lead rope, basic medical kit, blanket or sheet

Obviously, in a serious situation that would require evacuation, we will do all we can to help you and your horse to safety. We urge you to have a plan in place for your animals and yourselves which you will hopefully never need to use.

Local Stables that SOMETIMES act as Evacuation Shelters - ALWAYS call to be sure these shelters are open and have room.
